Design and Determination

Laura Wallace was frustrated. As a creative, artistic woman who took great pleasure in helping her clients make their homes beautiful and functional, she wanted to find a way to make the process smoother, more efficient, less stressful for them, and have better results than she had been having while working for another cabinet company. The management would not allow her nor their samples to leave the showroom, and Laura felt that she couldn’t do her best work without seeing the home and understanding how each family lived in those spaces. Although she tried to convince them to adapt their business plan to suit the needs of their customers, management insisted on remaining stagnant. Laura knew that there was a better way and was never the kind of person who backed down from a “no” or “you can’t.” Instead, those words were the motivating factor in her decision to quit her job, buy a van, and start the mobile showroom that has been successfully operating as Kitchen Designs by Laura since 2007.

Over the years, Laura has built a team of professionals, and each person on the team is an expert in their field, including electricians, contractors, plumbers and installers. She believes in giving thoughtful, personal care to her clients, striving to always exceed their expectations, and she expects the same from her team. She is satisfied with nothing less, and her clients love her for that!

Getting to really know her clients, and have her clients get to know her is of paramount importance to Laura, and a key factor in the success of her business. When she takes on a remodeling job, Laura and her rolling showroom meet at the client’s home, and Laura learns about the family, their tastes, lifestyle, and vision for their home. She then makes suggestions and recommendations while she gives the clients a tour of her well-stocked van. Having the cabinet, countertop, hardware and backsplash samples on hand allows the homeowner to see, touch and understand the pros and cons of some of the many elements that could become part of their new kitchen or bath. Laura works closely with her clients during all phases of the job to make certain that they will be thrilled upon completion. “I love to see the clients happy and see them jump like little kids from excitement in their new spaces. Many times these clients become life-long friends, and not just with me, but also with the members of my team!” Laura exclaimed.
